From free weights to larger multi-use machines, we have it all — we even offer in home delivery and set up  for your convenience. Keep reading to see what we would recommend for a first time home gym.

Dumbbells

Dumbbells are one of the first pieces of gym equipment that we believe you should invest in. Think about it, no matter what muscle group you’re working out, there are always dumbbell exercises that can help target that area. They’re also great if you are more of a beginner when it comes to lifting weights. Dumbbells allow you to focus on proper form without being overwhelmed by a big fancy machine. They are also relatively small and won’t take up much space if you’re wanting other types of equipment too.

Cardio Machine

We all know that it’s important to keep your cardiovascular health in check, and like it or not, cardio is a very important aspect of exercise to engage in. There are many ways that you can incorporate cardio into your workout routine, but one of the easiest ways is to use a machine. Machines like treadmills, ellipticals, stair steppers, rowing machines, and stationary bikes are all great ways to break a sweat while improving your overall heart health. However, be sure to pick a machine that you’re actually going to use or else it will just become an expensive dust collector.

Benches

Benches are one of the best accessories that you need in your home gym. Not only do they offer allow youto complete various exercises for different muscle groups, but they are also adjustable which can help you target specific regions of your body. You can use benches for literally all types of workouts. There is really nothing they can’t do.

Yoga Mat

Whether you consider yourself a seasoned yogi or not, having a yoga mat in your home gym is great no matter what. If you like to practice yoga, well there you go, we don’t need to explain anything further. But if you’re not a big yoga person, a yoga mat can serve as a comfortable place to do ab exercises, squats, push ups and other forms of exercise. These mats help you avoid slipping on the carpet or hardwood that is below you, and they add an extra bit of cushion of floor stretches and other exercises. So yogi or not, a yoga mat is worth the investment, and by investment we mean between $15 to20.

Exercise Ball

These aren’t just fun to bounce on, but they can be a great form of exercise as well. Exercise balls are relatively budget friendly and can be used for a number of exercises. From legs to abs, an exercise ball can serve as a versatile piece of equipment. Just like yoga mats, exercise balls are easily affordable and can be found at your local Walmart or Target.

Pull Up Bar

Pull ups are a wonderful way to exercise a variety of muscles in your upper body. They can also be used for abdominal work, which makes them another amazing multipurpose piece of gym equipment. Another great thing about them is that they are easily removable and can be placed in doorways of almost any room. If you don’t want them in your doorway, they don’t take up much space in storage.

Resistance Bands

If you feel like you’ve mastered the basics when it comes to exercising, adding a resistance band to your workout can add that little bit of “umph” that you’re looking for. Resistance bands are great because they come in a variety of different strengths and come in a variety of shapes and sizes. There are also different materials that they come in so you really can pick whatever is best for you! You can find them in most fitness stores, and pro tip, there’s a ton of them on Amazon.

No matter where you are in your fitness journey, all of these pieces of equipment will make a great addition to your home gym. Once again, we understand that creating a home gym can be a bit intimidating, but we’re here to help with that! Contact us today, or stop by one of our stores in Odessa or Lubbock, Texas!
